Hospitality Project Inaugurated at Nitika Don Bosco

Kolkata, Jul. 27. BASE-MoRD projects were inaugurated at Nitika Don Bosco, Kolkata at 11.00 am on July 26, 2010 in the presence of distinguished guests, Salesians, friends and well wishers. The projects are coordinated by Don Bosco Development Society, Kolkata (DBDOC) with the assistance of Bosco Academy for Skills and Employment (BASE) and Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD).  Nitika Don Bosco is hosting hospitality training courses in collaboration with Taj Bengal under the direction of Fr. George Myppan, SDB.

The programme was flagged off with a prayer by the children of Nitika Tuition Centre.  Fr. IC Jacob, Rector Nitika Don Bosco welcomed everyone to the gathering. Fr. MC Joseph, Director DBDOC introduced the DB Tech. team members. The lamp was lit by the Chief guest Mr. Suniti Chatterjee, Joint BDO, Sreerampore, Fr. EA Thomas, Provincial and president of the programme, Mr. K. Mohanchadaran, General Manager Taj Bengal and other eminent guests.

The chief guest spoke about the importance of the project to uplift the socio-economic situation of the area. Fr. Provincial in his speech highlighted the wonderful way the Government, the Corporate and the Salesians net-work together for the development of the BPL youth. Mr. Mohanchadaran informed the assembly about job opportunities in the hospitality sector which is a fast growing industry. Samrat Dasgupta, the state coordinator for the project addressed the candidates, welcoming them, explaining to them the project and making them aware as to what is expected of them in the coming 90 days of training. Fr. Soroj Mullick presented a short life sketch of Don Bosco which was followed by a dance by the children of the tuition centre.  The inauguration ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Satabdi Roy.

The event was well planned and executed by Fr. Remesh Cherian, Executive Director DBDOC and in collaboration with his efficient team members.
