If we want to win the world of tomorrow, we must win the youth of today, and paradoxically, if we want to win the youth of today, we must first be won by them. This is the style of Don Bosco. We need to win the youth of today. Youth ministry is basically one of relationship. The influence that we have on the young people will prove our leadership ability.

Among the many virtues that St. Joseph portrays, the one that caught my attention is his deep understanding. When he realized that Mary was with child, he did not publicly proclaim that it was not his child. He knew that if he condemned her, she would be punished publicly by the religious leaders of the time. Knowing the consequences, he quietly decided to put her away. This understanding spirit is the focus of this Circular.

Do I love Christ and do I believe in His teachings, His option for the less fortunate ones?
Do I blove my Salesian Religious Vocation?
Do I love to live a simpler way of life or style of life that is a concrete expression of my solidarity with the poor and genuine witness to people around?
Do I dare to venture into unknown territories, to cross the narrow boundaries of our work for youth? .... read more

As Religious and as Salesians we are called and challenged to have, over and above our individual perspectives, a loving faith-perspective towards people, reality and events. Faith perspective invites us to look at creation as being willed by a loving Father who cares for it unconditionally. When we assume such a perspective, it would give depth and focus in our life and activity. It elevates us from narrow, petty and shortsighted goals and perspectives we might consider very precious and necessary. In revealing the attitude of Christ, St. Paul writes to the Philippians: ``He always had the nature of God, but he did not think that by force he should try to become equal with God. Instead of this, of his own free will he gave up all he had and took the nature of a servant. He became like man and appeared in human likeness.`` (Philippians 2:6-7). This is the basic disposition of the Christmas event as well, i.e., self-emptying or sacrifice.
Love made visible and sacrifice characterize the event of Incarnation. The celebration of Christmas has significance when we are able to love people in a concrete way by making little sacrifices. `Love until it hurts` is a beautiful saying from Mother Theresa...Fr.
