EDUCATION AND RIGHTS� KAWANT

Twenty-nine development staff from across Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh met at DISHA Development Centre (Don Bosco Kawant) for a training session on the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) and the newly-enacted Right to Education (RTE). The centres represented were Kawant, Chhota Udepur, Kapadvanj, Alirajpur and Jhabua.

MMS ORIENTATION AT DBCL, KURLA

Don Bosco Centre for Learning, located on a sprawling Campus at Kurla has achieved yet another distinction. On August 24, 2010, Don Bosco Institute of Management & Research (a separate Management Institution of Don Bosco Institute of Technology ) was launched. It will be offering a full time 2-year M.M.S. Course which is A.I.C.T.E. approved and affiliated to the University of Mumbai. DBIMR is equipped with an excellent infrastructure. The current batch of students has a male: female ratio of 51:49. They represent various streams of undergraduate education.

Conclusion of DB Tech Plus Training Programme

The 3rd batch of DB Tech Plus programme was successfully completed on 28th August 2010. The event was not solemnized due to the sudden death of Most Rev. Marampudi Joji, the arch-bishop of Hyderabad and a great friend of the institution. in his inaugural speech Fr. Miriyala Bala kishore SDB, Province Delegate for the Technical Commission highlighted the need for learning soft skills to get better placement in the IT companies.

Rectors` Course Conducted with Record Numbers

Thirty Nine Rectors of communities from all over India gathered at Don Bosco Renewal Centre (Bangalore)for an update on the issues facing the Salesian Religious superior today. The gathering spanning five full days was characterised by Salesian joy and tangible results as enumerated by the participants.

Fr. Simon`s installation as a new provincial

2 September 2010 remains most memorable day for the Salesian Province of Hungary. It`s on this day, our dear confrere, Fr. Simon Manjooran has taken charge as its new provincial for a six-year term. He succeeds Fr. Albert van Hecke sdb, who hails from Belgium. Prior to this, he was the General councillor for the Europe Region for 12 years.

Virtual Course for Teachers (VCT) at SHC, Tirupattur

An online course on Cooperative Learning and Educational Technology in Higher Education. First Batch of 14 students from 4 colleges of Tamil Nadu (Sacred Heart College - Tirupattur, Don Bosco College - Dharmapuri, BIIT - Yellagiri Hills, Auxilium college, Vellore) have successfully completed the online course. The viva was conducted on 5th April at BIIT, Yellagiri Hills. All the 14 participants presented their final assignment for evaluation and successfully completed the online course.

SPCSA ASSEMBLY BEGINS IN MUMBAI

MUMBAI, September 2, 2010: The SPCSA Assembly is being held at Don Bosco Provincial House, Mumbai, from September 2-4, 2010. Fr Maria Arokiam, the Regional Councillor; the eleven provincials and their delegates; and some of the South-Asia coordinators delegates arrived yesterday.
