Veteran Salesian Priest from Chennai province, Fr. Peter Matthew Fernando, aged 87, expired at 5.20 p.m. on February 5, 2012 at Polur, Tamilnadu.

DB MUSE 2012 AT DON BOSCO COLLEGE, DHARMAPURI

An exciting literary fiesta codenamed `DB MUSE 2012` was held at Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Dharmapuri, on January 23, 2012. Eleven colleges from Dharmapuri, Salem, Krishnagiri, Hosur, Tirupattur etc enthusiatically participated in this event conducted by the English Department of Don Bosco College.

DB Vazhikatti, Chennai organises Job Fair

A day-long ``Job Fair`` that brought 3000 job seekers and some 75 job providers from all over Tamil Nadu under one roof at Don Bosco, Egmore, Chennai, on November 27, 2011 resulted in 1200 candidates getting offer letters on the spot. Among the job providers were some of the country`s leading companies like TVS, MRF, TCS, DELL, Sundaram Medical Foundation, Taj Hotels , VOLTECH and others. The candidates selected were for different categories such as Manufacturing, Retail, Marketing, ITES, IT and BPO. Besides those given on-the-spot offer letters, many more candidates have been asked to appear for a second level of interviews at various companies.

Don Bosco`s Relic Leaves India: Hundreds of thousands gather to bid farewell to the saint on his final day in India

The Relic of Don Bosco which was on a pilgrimage across India for the last seven months left India last night, having traversed 27,990 km through the length and breadth of the country, everywhere evoking waves of unprecedented fervor and spiritual enthusiasm, particularly among the young. On its last day in India, the relic was taken to four places of historical importance in Chennai - the Votive Shrine at Kilpauk, the Little Mount where St Thomas the Apostle lived, the Sacred Heart Seminary at Poonamallee and St Thomas Mount, where the Apostle was martyred in the year 72 A.D. An estimated 350,000 people paid homage to the relic on this final day of its presence in India.

Chennai Province bids farewell to the Relic of DB

The entire Salesian Family in Chennai came together to bid adieu to the relic of Don Bosco at the Provincial House on 17 November, the penultimate day of the relic`s presence in the Province of Chennai. Archbishop Chinnappa of Madras-Mylapore and two State Ministers specially deputed by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu were also present on the occasion at the Provincial House.

Lourdes Shrine, Perambur, pays tribute to the relic

Thousands of parishioners of Lourdes Shrine accorded an colourful welcome for the casket containing the relic of Don Bosco as it arrived here on 16th November. Fr. Joe Andrew, the parish priest, and the Salesian community received the casket. A Religious cultural programme that followed enlightened the faithful about the life and holiness of Don Bosco.

DB relic at Becchi Theologate

The fathers and brothers of Becchi - Salesain Theologate, received the casket containing the relic of Don Bosco at 12.30 p.m., yesterday. It was exposed for public veneration during which numerous school students and lay people from the neighbourhood participated. A solemn concelebrated Eucharist was celebrated at 3.00 p.m. by Fr. Bellarmine, the rector.

Anbu Illam, Kavarapettai , welcomes Relic

Don Bosco Anbu Illam hosted a hearty welcome for the relic on morning of 16 November 2011. On this auspicious occasion, a newly constructed Language Lab and Motor Mechanic Division in the ITI were inaugurated. A mini-bus service for the ITI students was also launched.

Prayerful Reception for DB Relic at Wisdom Town

Thousands Venerate Relic at St. Mary`s Co-Cathedral

Chennai, 15 November: An unprecedented number of devotees thronged St. Mary`s Co-Cathedral, (popularly known as St. Anthony`s Shrine) Armenian Street, Chennai, to venerate the relic of Don Bosco. Fr. Deva Joe, Rector of the Shrine, received the relic at the campus.
