A day-long ``Job Fair`` that brought 3000 job seekers and some 75 job providers from all over Tamil Nadu under one roof at Don Bosco, Egmore, Chennai, on November 27, 2011 resulted in 1200 candidates getting offer letters on the spot. Among the job providers were some of the country`s leading companies like TVS, MRF, TCS, DELL, Sundaram Medical Foundation, Taj Hotels , VOLTECH and others. The candidates selected were for different categories such as Manufacturing, Retail, Marketing, ITES, IT and BPO. Besides those given on-the-spot offer letters, many more candidates have been asked to appear for a second level of interviews at various companies.

The Relic of Don Bosco which was on a pilgrimage across India for the last seven months left India last night, having traversed 27,990 km through the length and breadth of the country, everywhere evoking waves of unprecedented fervor and spiritual enthusiasm, particularly among the young. On its last day in India, the relic was taken to four places of historical importance in Chennai - the Votive Shrine at Kilpauk, the Little Mount where St Thomas the Apostle lived, the Sacred Heart Seminary at Poonamallee and St Thomas Mount, where the Apostle was martyred in the year 72 A.D. An estimated 350,000 people paid homage to the relic on this final day of its presence in India.

The entire Salesian Family in Chennai came together to bid adieu to the relic of Don Bosco at the Provincial House on 17 November, the penultimate day of the relic`s presence in the Province of Chennai. Archbishop Chinnappa of Madras-Mylapore and two State Ministers specially deputed by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu were also present on the occasion at the Provincial House.

It was exposed for public veneration during which numerous school students and lay people from the neighbourhood participated. A solemn concelebrated Eucharist was celebrated at 3.00 p.m. by Fr. Bellarmine, the rector.
