Sethu Engineering College-Madurai wins15th State Level Don Bosco Football Tournament

The State Level Don Bosco Football Tournament organized by Don Bosco ITC, Madurai for the fifteenth consecutive year, from January 25-29, 2012 witnessed exciting matches. As many as eighteen teams from ten cities of Tamil Nadu participated in the tournament. In a keenly contested final on January 29, 2012 Sethu Engineering College-Madurai, trounced Jamal Mohammed College-Trichy to emerge winners.

Vocation Guidance Animators National Meet at Tiruchy

The Salesian South Asian Region Vocation Guidance animators and directors gathered for the annual meet at Tiruchy on January 25, 2012. The day began with the Eucharist presided over by Fr Joe Almeida, the Provincial of Guwahati and the delegate for vocation guidance at the SPCSA (Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia). During the homily, Fr Almeida said ``let us help young people discover their true selves, and accompany them to find their true place in life and in the world.``

VEMBU-Vilathikulam sows seeds for a rich harvest at Pongal

VEMBU, Vilathikulam brought together 150 youngsters from 14 different villages to form a youth movement, after working with them for several months at different levels and motivating them. The youth movement was initiated with the theme ``Towards Fuller Life: Me and Others`` on January 22, 2012.

DB Alumni (migrants from North India) pep up the INT Provincial Community Day

Members of the Tiruchy Province Salesian Family gathered at Don Bosco NEST, Tiruppur, on January 14, 2012 to celebrate the Provincial Community Day. As the gates of the banian companies were being locked in view of the Pongal holidays, DB NEST, Tiruppur threw open its gates for the Provincial Community Day celebrations. The customary ghost town image of Tiruppur, during the Pongal holidays, was transformed by the small group of lively Salesian family members, who had gathered to celebrate their family spirit.

National Consumer Protection day at Dindigul

The National Consumer Protection day was celebrated at Don Bosco Community College, Dindigul on January 11, 2012. The members of Consumer Citizen Club and their staff-coordinator Mr.Suresh organised the programme. Fr. Santhanaraj SDB, Economer, Tiruchy Salesian province and Mr. Udhayakumar, the District Civil Supply Officer were the Chief Guests for the function. But Mr.Udhayakumar, could not make it due to some emergency. Mr. Francis, President, Tamil Nadu Citizen Protection Centre, Dindigul district, Mr.Subramaniam, Secretary and Mr.Nagaraj, Treasurer were among the other dignitaries.

VETTRI NAMADHE - Orientation Programme at K. Pudur - INT

A mega orientation programme called `Vettri Namadhe` (Victory is Ours) was organized for 12th standard students who are appearing for the government exams this year by Tiruchy Don Bosco Vazhikaatti on 3rd January at Lourdes Shrine, Madurai. About 1000 students from 11 schools participated in this mega event. Don Bosco Vazhikaatti, a career guidance and job placement department of Tiruchy Province, in collaboration with Lourdes Shrine, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Madurai, organized a motivation programme to help the 12th students to face the government exams with serenity and peace. Rresource persons were invited to present tips and techniques regarding each subject. The District toppers and school toppers of the recent years were also present to speak to the students and to narrate how they had achieved it.

INT rejoices at the ordination of three new priests

Three deacons viz. Ashok Lawrence, Mohan Christuraj and Suresh Felix were ordained deacons by Rev. Antony Devotta D.D., bishop of Trichy at AMSAM, Tiruchy on 29 Dec 2011.

MRF recruitment in Madhakottai - Tiruchy

Don Bosco Vazhikaatti of Tiruchy, in collaboration with that of Chennai conducted direct recruitment for MRF - Perambalur in Madhakottai on 17th December 2011. 26 young men were selected for the immediate training.
